Chester County hosting event to train workers for the manufacturing industry

The Chester County Workforce Development Board, with the support of the Chester County Economic Development Council and the Manufacturing Alliance of Chester and Delaware Counties, will host a free virtual event aimed at retraining workers for the manufacturing industry.

The Manufacturing Boot Camp runs Monday thru Friday starting Monday for three weeks. It will teach participants about manufacturing safety, tool skills and best practices, problem-solving, electrical circuitry, and sensors, and provide guidance on machine awareness and usage.

The program is open to Chester County residents, and registration is open until Friday. All participants must pass a drug screening, participate in a pre-program interview, and have earned a high school diploma or GED.

“Chester County’s Manufacturing Boot Camp is distinctive from other regional programs in that we are providing the actual training and certifications required to ensure hospitality, retail, and other workers are competitive with job seekers who already have manufacturing experience,” said Patrick Bokovitz, director of the Chester County Workforce Development Board.

The Chester County Workforce Development Board oversees approximately $5 million in workforce development funds annually.

The Chester County Economic Development Council is a private, non-profit economic development organization promoting Chester County growth.

The Manufacturing Alliance of Chester and Delaware Counties is a Chester County Economic Development Council initiative in partnership with Delaware County Community College.
