Company awarded $2M to develop biodiesel facility

The Redevelopment Assistance Capital Program recently awarded Crawford Advanced Materials, comprised of Crawford Renewable Energy and Homeland Fuels Co., $2 million to develop a biodiesel facility within the Keystone Regional Industrial Park in Crawford County.

The project includes the construction of a testing lab and administration building, stormwater management facilities, water and sanitary sewer infrastructure, and site access driveways and parking areas. It also includes outdoor lighting and landscaping.

Once completed, the project is expected to increase tax revenue for the local economy.

“I want to thank the Economic Progress Alliance of Crawford County for their strong application for this innovative project, which has the ability to spur future job growth in our area,” state Sen. Michele Brooks (R-Crawford County) said. “We are very fortunate to have such an advanced collaboration in our area, and I’m thankful for the funding they have been awarded.”

Crawford Advanced Materials’ goal is to deploy advanced conversion technologies to process cellulosic biomass feedstocks into important “green” products of advanced materials and renewable transportation fuel. It partners with laboratory scientists, university researchers, and technology suppliers to further develop their ideas.

Crawford Renewable Energy is based in Atlanta, while Homeland Fuels Co. is based in Canton, Mass.
