The Senate Majority Policy Committee will hold a virtual public workshop on Tuesday to discuss the safe reopening of western Pennsylvania’s economy following the COVID-19 pandemic.
“Governor Wolf’s process of closing and reopening businesses has been marred by a lack of clarity and consistency from the start. I am thankful that many of our local employers are leading the way toward reopening with the necessary precautions in place to protect employees and customers,” said Sen. Camera Bartolotta (R-Beaver/Greene/Washington), who requested the workshop discussion. “This hearing offers an opportunity for local employers to highlight some of the innovative ways they are working to keep everyone safe.”
Panelists for the workshop include representatives from the Pennsylvania Manufacturers’ Association, the PA Chamber of Business and Industry, the PA Restaurant & Lodging Association, and various Western Pennsylvania employers.
“Without consulting the legislature or the public, the Governor decided which counties would move into the yellow phase and beyond,” said Majority Policy chairman Sen. David G. Argall (R-Schuylkill/Berks). “Senator Bartolotta is leading this conversation to discuss what safe measures employers can take as they move out of the red phase and into the yellow phase.”
