Harsco’s rail division awarded three-year contract

Network Rail, the largest infrastructure manager of railway networks in the United Kingdom, recently awarded Camp Hill-based Harsco Corp.’s rail division a $25 million, three-year mobile maintenance train service contract.

The contract, which will begin in April, has an option for a two-year extension. Under the contract, Harsco Rail will operate and maintain Network Rail’s fleet of eight mobile maintenance trains.

Network Rail owns, operates and develops 20,000 miles of track; 30,000 bridges, tunnels and viaducts; and the thousands of signals, level crossings and stations in the UK. The company’s maintenance trains facilitate the delivery of essential track-maintenance throughout the network.

Seven trains are operational, while the eighth is used to conduct overhaul and maintenance work.
