CRC Industries, a Horsham-based specialty chemical manufacturer, recently was issued a U.S. patent for its gasoline direct injection (GDI) IVD Intake Valve and Turbo Cleaner.

“We continually strive to innovate by developing new solutions to maintenance issues and addressing the needs of our customers both now and for the future,” Adam Selisker, CRC global VP of research and development, said. “It’s critical to be forward-thinking and stay ahead of technological advances. The number of vehicles with GDI engines in the U.S. is expected to exceed 80 million by 2021. Our proprietary technology provides a better service alternative to maintain GDI engines for both repair shops and vehicle owners, while also making the job manageable for the skilled DIYer.”

Carbon deposits can cause poor acceleration, reduced fuel economy, rough idle, hard starts, excess emissions, and power loss.

The aerosol cleaner reduces or eliminates carbon deposit buildup in GDI engines. The cleaner is applied through an engine’s air intake or throttle body and delivered directly to the valves.

The cleaner allows deposit removal to be performed up to 75 percent faster than previous methods. Other methods are costly and labor-intensive and require engine disassembly. Values are then cleaned manually or with walnut-shell blasting.
