House Republicans launch #GoodJobs4PA initiative

House Majority Leader Bryan Cuter (R-Lancaster) announced Tuesday the House Republican plan to reform and improve workforce development in Pennsylvania.

“Every Pennsylvanian deserves to the opportunity to learn the skills necessary to move up the economic ladder,” Cutler said. “With the right policies in place, we can develop our state into a world-class workforce and attract the companies, grow the industries and develop the innovations that will show the world what Pennsylvanians are made of.”

Cutler announces plans to move several bills related to workforce development through the House within the next few weeks. The bills address the skills gap and workers shortages and aim to improve educational programs and access to education. The first bills in the package are expected to be on the floor for votes before the end of this week.

“For too long there has been a mismatch between what we produce and what the economy needs in terms of an educated or skilled workforce,” Cutler said. “So, we’re working to make it possible for everyone to have that opportunity – one where they can make the best decisions for their future, one that employers are looking for, and hopefully one that does not result in large amounts of student debt.”

Cutler made the announcement following comments from Gov. Tom Wolf about an executive order signed Tuesday establishing the Keystone Economic Development and Workforce Command Center.
