Pennsylvania invests $44.5M in 50 projects

Pennsylvania recently announced it is investing $44.5 million through its Multimodal Transportation Fund to 50 infrastructure projects in 23 counties designed to improve mobility and safety.

Projects were selected based on multiple criteria including regional economic conditions, safety benefits, energy efficiency, job creation, operational sustainability, and technical and financial feasibility.

Several projects will repair or replace bridges and roads.

“Whether we’re making roadways more accessible to all means of travel or creating new connections for businesses investing in our communities, transportation is integral to our quality of life,” Pennsylvania Department of Transportation Secretary Leslie S. Richards said. “These projects will bring long-lasting improvements across the state.”

Grants range from $68,128 to $3 million.

Penn Hills Township in Allegheny County was awarded $3 million. The township will repave and improve roads, make streets more accessible for bicycle traffic and complete ADA-compliant cut-outs and sidewalks.

Johnstown Redevelopment Authority in Cambria County was awarded $2.7 million. The authority will construct an industrial connector road between the Johnstown Urban Industrial Park to Iron Street.

East Coventry Township in Chester County was awarded $2.6 million. The township will improve multiple intersections to install sidewalks, restrict left turns and add signals.
