ACT purchases Parker Hannifin

Lancaster-based advanced thermal management solutions manufacturer Advanced Cooling Technologies (ACT) recently acquired motion and control technology company
Parker Hannifin Corp.’s Precision Cooling Business (PCB).

PCB is a supplier of Pumped Two Phase Cooling products for power electronics applications. The technology uses latent energy from the boiling of a working fluid to efficiently remove large amounts of waste heat.

Pumped Two Phase Cooling reduces pumping power and system size, enables lower flow rate, has more uniform temperature across the heat source surface and a higher heat flux removal capability, and is a more practical use of dielectric working fluids such as refrigerants when compared to phase one systems.

“Pumped Two Phase Cooling is a growing technology area for ACT,” Jon Zuo, ACT president and chief technical officer, said. “Combining PCB’s position in the power electronics industry and ACT’s strength in the defense and aerospace markets will offer our customers more design options and enhanced product reliability.”

PCB assets were transferred to ACT’s more than 65,000-square-foot facility and integrated into its Industrial Products Group.

ACT and Parker will be working together to ensure a smooth transition for customers and suppliers, John Hartenstine, ACT vice president of operations and quality assurance, said.
