The Pennsylvania Farm Bureau (PFB) recently re-elected Richard Ebert as president for another two-year term at its 68th annual meeting at the Hershey Lodge on Nov. 12-14.
Ebert, a Westmoreland County dairy farmer, has served as president since November 2014. He has been involved with PFB for decades, previously serving as vice president, as a member of the State Board of Directors, as State Dairy Committee chairman and State Policy Development Committee chairman.
He also is the recipient of a PFB’s Young Farmer & Rancher Achievement Award.
“Looking at the year ahead, I and other farmer leaders will be focused on immediately building good working relationship with newly elected members of Congress,” Ebert said. “We’ll especially want to talk with lawmakers who aren’t familiar with agricultural issues and Farm Bureau.”
Ebert said he supports county Farm Bureaus’ interest in getting more involved in local, nonfarm community projects. Ebert looks forward to working with the Farm Bureau on these projects, he said.
Delegates from PFB’s 54 county Farm Bureaus voted for Ebert. He ran unopposed.
Ebert also recently said Pennsylvania farmers are having a rough time turning a profit thanks to wet weather this year.
