The Cumberland County Commissioners recently announced the promotion of Dana Best, director of finance, to the position of Chief Financial Officer (CFO).
There are currently 10 finance employees in the Cumberland County Commissioners office, and an additional accounting position was created to support the transition.
Best has worked for the county for 23 years and began her career as an accountant in the controller’s office. She transferred to finance and served for 17 years as finance manager/director.
“I am happy to continue my service with the county as chief financial officer,” Best said. “I believe that my experience in previous roles in the county has prepared me for a successful transition.”
As CFO, Best will lead the county in the strategic direction of the county commissioners. She will be charged with strategic planning, performance management, financial forecasting and management, budget administration, cash management, debt management, and procurement.
Best received her Bachelor of Science in Business Administration with a concentration in Accounting from Shippensburg University. She is a Certified Public Accountant and a Charted Global Management Accountant.
