Food Merchants Association names new board member

The Pennsylvania Food Merchants Association (PFMA) recently appointed Gary Fechter to its board of directors, succeeding Blaine Forkell.

Fechter is senior vice president for Wegmans’ Pennsylvania Division and is currently in charge of operations for 16 stores.

“We are very pleased to have Gary join our Board of Directors and look forward to his contributions,” Alex Baloga, PFMA president and CEO, said. “Gary is a leader in the food and beverage industry in Pennsylvania and his more than 25 years of experience in management at
retail and hospitality establishments will be a tremendous asset to our organization moving forward.”

Fechter has a degree in business administration and has held senior leadership positions with several companies including Boston Market, Blockbuster Video, Panera Bread, and Qdoba Mexican Grill. Most recently, he was regional vice president for Romano’s Macaroni Grill restaurants.

Fechter has served as chairman of the Civic Engagement Committee, and, in West Palm Beach, Fla., served a member of the Board of Governors for Leadership Palm Beach County and on the Board of Directors of For The Children.

PFMA members operate more than 3,200 stores in Pennsylvania and employ more than 150,000 people statewide.
