County Commissioners Association presents awards at annual conference

The County Commissioners Association of Pennsylvania (CCAP) recently honored individuals who have enhanced the well-being of counties and their residents at its 2018 Annual Conference in Adams County.

Warren County’s Jeff Eggleston was presented with the CCAP’s Outstanding County Commissioner/Council Member of the Year Award. Eggleston won the award for his dedicated local service that has contributed to the advancement of county government, including his work on the North/South Corridor Project with Chatauqua County.

Maryann Nardone was presented with the 2018 Friend of County Government Award. Nardone, retired project manager for the Pennsylvania Legislative Budget and Finance Committee, was honored for her continued commitment to the improvement of county government. Most recently, her research into county property assessment practices and her participation on the Local Government Commission’s Assessment Reform Task Force led to development of reports, legislation and other documents for counties.

Chester County’s Tom Whiteman was presented with the 2018 Outstanding Solicitor Award for his work on significant projects over his more than 30 year career, including the construction of a justice center and a public safety training campus.

In addition, CCAP Executive Director Doug Hill, Deputy Director Brinda Penyak, and John Sallade, managing director of insurance programs, were presented with President’s Awards. President’s Awards honor commitment to CCAP’s president and outstanding contributions that enhance service to county residents.

In other business, the commissioners also recently elected Chester County Commissioner Kathi Cozzone as president of CCAP. Cozzone will begin her term on Jan. 1, 2019.

Founded in 1886, CCAP represents the state’s 67 counties. Members include county commissioners and executives, administrators, council members, chief clerks and solicitors.
