Philadelphia-based US Pipelining, a company specializing in trenchless pipe rehabilitation technologies, recently completed a refinery rehabilitation project at Motiva’s refinery in Texas.
Work included the structural restoration of nearly 2,000 linear feet of 36- and 48-inch diameter steel piping that required specialty resins and materials to compensate for elevated temperatures and chemical profile of the waste.
Motiva hired US Pipelining in 2021 during an assessment of the process waste collection system.
“The design and planning phase took well over a year to complete” Jeremy Bowman, US Pipelining president, said. “The Motiva project involved 36 and 48-inch diameter steel piping which required specialty resins and materials to compensate for the elevated line temperatures, and chemical profile of the waste. US Pipelining uses Cured-In-Place technology, a jointless, seamless, pipe- within-a-pipe, for industrial, commercial and municipal applications. The method has a design life of 50 years.
