Pennsylvania Gov. Tom Wolf joined BioTechnique CEO John Clapham, York County Economic Alliance CEO Kevin Schreiber, and other state and local officials to cut the ribbon on a new pharmaceutical manufacturing facility in York County Wednesday.
The company, BioTechnique, relocated to York County from Wisconsin and will create an estimated 100 new jobs in the region.
“Just months ago, my administration was thrilled to support BioTechnique in its growth and welcome the company to Pennsylvania,” Wolf said. “I am grateful to be here today as this relocation comes full circle and we officially mark a new start for BioTechnique in our commonwealth, which is renowned for its manufacturing industry.”
BioTechnique purchased the formerly vacant 160,000 square-foot Unilife pharmaceutical manufacturing facility and invested more than $22 million in infrastructure, new equipment, and training. The company received $500,000 from DCED (Department of Community and Economic Development) in the form of a Pennsylvania First grant, a $200,000 workforce development grant to help with training, and a $2 million Pennsylvania Industrial Development Authority (PIDA) loan.

The company manufactures highly potent, sterile injectable drugs used in next generation cancer therapies, novel vaccines, and hormonal therapies, as well as DEA controlled substances.
