Pittsburgh-based Wabtec Corp., an equipment, systems, digital solutions and value-added services provider for the freight and transit rail industries, recently completed its purchase of Sweden-based Dellner Couplers, a manufacturer and servicer of couplers for the transit rail industry.
“The addition of Dellner Couplers aligns with our long-term vision of driving innovation, productivity, safety and reliability for passenger rail on a global scale,” Pascal Schweitzer, Wabtec Transit president, said.
The purchase allows Wabtec to add complementary technologies to its mission-critical passenger rail systems portfolio and positions the company for accelerated, profitable growth.

Dellner Couplers focuses on couplers and gangways for passenger rail rolling stock, and its customers include major rolling stock original equipment manufacturers, operators, and independent maintenance and repair providers worldwide. Globally, approximately 100,000 of its couplers and 12,500 gangways have been installed.
The company employs more than 1,200 people in 17 offices with production, assembly and aftermarket services’ facilities in 13 countries.
