The Pennsylvania Treasury Department recently received a 2018 CIO 100 award for its Transparency Portal, a first-in-the-nation tool that allows state residents the ability to review Pennsylvania’s budget and track general fund spending in real time.

“It is an honor to win a CIO 100 award and to be recognized for our commitment to Pennsylvania taxpayers,” Pennsylvania Treasurer Joe Torsella said. “Treasury is the first Pennsylvania state agency in over a decade to receive this honor.”

This marks the third award that the Transparency Portal has received since its launch in February 2017. Nearly a year later, Torsella announced that the portal had been recognized by the Digital Edge 50 Award and the PA Excellence in Technology Award, which honor innovative technology and digital development.

The 100 winners of the 2018 CIO Award were announced May 2 for their dedication to driving business growth through tech innovation.

“I’m proud of the innovation that we’ve brought to open the state’s checkbook, and that we were able to develop every aspect of the portal in-house without any added expense to taxpayers,” Torsella said.
