Pittsburgh-based Gecko Robotics announced it is collaborating with NVIDIA to strengthen AI security throughout the full agent stack, including robotics.
The new platform, NVIDIA Open Agent Safety Platform, will tackle AI’s biggest emerging risk – autonomous control of systems, the companies said. Gecko builds with NVIDIA Open Shell software, and said it will “explore how enforceable boundaries can keep AI-powered robots operating within human-defined permissions, helping establish the safeguards needed to deploy greater autonomy responsibly.”
“As Jensen says, safety is an engineering problem not a legal one,” Jake Loosararian, Co-founder and CEO of Gecko Robotics, said. “The idea that losing control of AI is inevitable is a dangerous excuse for inaction. We have a responsibility to build safeguards that keep AI within the boundaries humans set. What NVIDIA has built with their Open Agent Safety Platform, and Gecko is testing for robots, is confronting the risk before it reaches the physical world and helping ensure greater autonomy does not come at the expense of human control.”
Officials said the introduction of NVIDIA Agent Safety Platform comes on the heels of recently reported security incidents with AI agents at other companies. Gecko Robotics said that as AI agents increasingly direct robots, vehicles and industrial machinery, it is important to bring security to agent systems in the real world.
The companies said the collaboration will provide more governance and more control across the software, hardware, computing infrastructure and robotic systems that AI agents use.
