Eos Energy Enterprises, Inc., headquartered in Pittsburgh announced it had appointed Haiyan Song to its Board of Directors.
The zinc-based long-duration energy storage (LDES) company said the Song would provide needed cybersecurity expertise as the company builds out technology, talent and governance foundation to lead the energy storage market being reshaped by surging electricity demands and tightening grid restraints.
“Haiyan brings proven cybersecurity, cloud and software expertise to our Board,” Joe Nigro, chairman of the Board, said. “Her perspective complements the manufacturing, industrial and energy expertise already on our Board, and will directly strengthen how we build, secure and operate our platform as Eos scales.”
Song most recently served as Executive Vice President of NewApp’s CloudOps business, with prior senior leadership roles at F5, Splunk and Hewlett Packard Enterprise. She also bring public and private board experience through service on the boards of boards of CSG and Kodiak Solutions. Officials said her appointment would strengthen Eos’ software, data and cybersecurity strategy, and will support Eos as storage systems increasingly operate as intelligent assets at the grid edge, processing data and making operating decisions closer to where power is stored.
“Eos has built a differentiated energy storage platform backed by strong technology and manufacturing capabilities in a market that is becoming increasingly important to the future of American energy infrastructure,” Song said. “As energy storage systems continue to evolve, software, data and analytics will play a larger role in performance, operations and customer experience. I look forward to working with the Board and leadership team as Eos executes its strategy.”
The company also announced Marie Batz Martin would take on the role of Chief Legal Officer, effective July 13. Martin has more than 20 years of legal, compliance and corporate governance leadership. She will replace Michael Silberman, Eos’ current CLO, who will remain with the company as a non-executive through Sept. 11, 2026 as part of a planned smooth transition.
Martin most recently served as Global Vice President and Chief Compliance Officer at Coherent Corp., and has previously served as Executive Vice President, General Counsel, Corporate Secretary and Chief Compliance Officer at FlightSafety International.
“Marie has built high-performing teams and advised complex global businesses through periods of growth and operational change,” Joe Mastrangelo, Eos CEO, said. “She brings the legal expertise, judgment, and public company experience Eos needs as we execute our strategy and scale the business.”
