Texas-based Tenaris, a supplier of tubes and related services for the energy industry and industrial applications, recently announced it will invest more than $90 million in its Koppel steel shop and Ambridge seamless pipe manufacturing facility.
The upgrades support Tenaris’ ongoing strategy to increase production efficiency and modernize both facilities. The plan includes automation and equipment upgrades, upgrades to the electric arc furnace at the steel shop and higher capacity ladles, the addition of a steel bar yard at the Koppel facility, and a new bar cutting area in Ambridge. Since it purchased the locations in 2020, the company has invested $150 million.
“This improvement plan is another important step to bring our long-term vision for our Ambridge and Koppel facilities to fruition,” Guillermo Moreno, Tenaris U.S. president, said. “We are proud to supply U.S. oil and gas customers with products made here in Pennsylvania and around the country. As demand for American energy grows, we will continue to prioritize investments that maintain our standing as a reliable partner for U.S. operators.”
Work will begin this year with most projects concluding in the second half of 2027.
Steel Recycling Services, a Tenaris subsidiary, recently purchased SA Recycling, and the company plans to upgrade the shredder at the scrap processing center.
