Philadelphia-based Urban Outfitters (URBN), a portfolio of lifestyle brands, will invest at least $150 million to expand operations in Philadelphia and Bucks County. It also plans to build a new facility for its Nuuly brand, a rental subscription service, in Falls Township.

“URBN’s roots are firmly in Philadelphia, from our beginnings at 43rd and Locust 56 years ago, to our 20-year history here at the Navy Yard. Celebrating this anniversary alongside the opening of Building 16 is a proud moment for our company,” Richard Hayne, URBN CEO, said. “Our relationship with the state has been vital to our success, and we look forward to creating more jobs and continuing our investment in Pennsylvania.”

Expansion will create at least 1,050 new jobs at its headquarters and the new Nuuly facility. In addition, the company announced it might spend an additional $50 million in capital investments that could create more jobs.

In 2006, URBN relocated its headquarters from Center City to the Philadelphia Navy Yard and invested more than $100 million to remodel several historic shipyard facilities. The company now occupies 15 buildings at the Navy Yard and has grown to more than 2,500 employees.

URBN’s brands include Urban Outfitters, Anthropologie, Free People, FP Movement, and Terrain.
