The Pittsburgh area’s Allegheny Conference on Community Development announced its leadership team for the 2027-2029 term recently.
The Conference is the parent of three affiliate organizations. Each plays a vital role in carrying out the Conference’s work: Pennsylvania Economy League of Greater Pittsburgh, Greater Pittsburgh Chamber of Commerce, and the Pittsburgh Regional Alliance. Together, the Conference and its affiliates identify competitiveness issues holding our region back, develop policy solutions to address these issues and market an ever-improving region to employers and talented individuals.
In keeping with its governance model of leadership rotation every three years, the Conference’s Board of Directors announced Leroy M. Ball, CEO and chairman of Koppers, would come on board as the incoming chair , while Mark Wiedman, president of The PNC Financial Services Group, Inc., would serve as the vice chair.
The board also announced that Allegheny Conference CEO Stefani Pashman plans to step down from her role with the organization later this year. Pashman said this transition period provides a natural opportunity to align new executive leadership with the organization’s next phase of work and to usher in a fresh perspective and energy. Pashman has led the organization for 8 and a half years.
Ball joins the board with more than a decade of experience as head of Koppers, and history of activity within the Pittsburgh community, including serving on several community boards. He holds a bachelor’s degree from Florida International University and an MBA from Robert Morris University.
“I am honored to be selected as the next Chair of the Allegheny Conference,” Ball said. “I am excited to work with Mark, the Board, and Conference leadership on mapping out the next phase of our strategy to grow the region and build upon the momentum created under David and Stefani’s leadership.”
Wiedman joined PNC in 2025, and prior to that spent 21 years at BlackRock. His background also includes serving as senior advisor to the Under Secretary for Domestic Finance at the U.S. Treasury, and serving as a law clerk on the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Seventh Circuit in Chicago, as well as teaching finance and policy at Yale Law School. Wiedman earned a Bachelor of Arts in Social Studies from Harvard College, and a Juris Doctor from Yale Law School.
“What sets Pittsburgh apart is the way its business, civic, and community leaders come together with a shared purpose, and the Allegheny Conference is a powerful example of that collaboration in action,” he said. “PNC is proud to be headquartered in a city where partnership drives progress, and we remain deeply committed to invest in the Pittsburgh region’s continued growth and long-term success.”
Ball and Weidman will assume their roles on Jan. 1, 2027. Ball will lead the search committee to select the new CEO, and Pashman will remain CEO until her successor can be hired.
