California-based Del Monte Foods, a producer, distributor and marketer of fresh and shelf-stable produce, recently made Pittsburgh its central hub.

The company’s presence in Pittsburgh began in 2002 when the company acquired several brands from Heinz including the StarKist, 9Lives and Nature’s Goodness brands. The company relocated its Pittsburgh offices from the North Shore to Penn Center West in Robinson Township in 2021.

Becoming an operational hub means core functions for the Foods division will be in the city as will senior leadership. Core functions include commercial operations, finance, supply chain, and research and development.

“Pittsburgh has been an important part of our story for more than two decades,” Mohammad Abu-Ghazaleh, Fresh Del Monte chairman and CEO, said. “As we look ahead, we are proud to deepen our presence here while continuing to invest in the people, partnerships and community that have supported us over the years.”

Del Monte Foods is a division of Florida-based Fresh Del Monte Produce, a global producer, marketer, and distributor of fresh, fresh-cut, and prepared fruit and vegetables. It markets products in more than 90 countries under DEL MONTE and other brands. The company also operates a growing global platform across fresh, refrigerated, and shelf-stable food categories.
