Cranberry Township-based MSA Safety Incorporated, an industrial safety technology products and solutions company, recently entered into a definitive agreement with Norway-based Autronica Fire and Security for approximately $555 million.

Autronica designs, manufactures and supplies fire detection, gas detection, and alarm systems to the industrial, infrastructure, maritime, and oil and gas sectors. It employs approximately 500 employees worldwide.

“This acquisition accelerates our fixed detection growth strategy by adding a highly complementary, scaled fire and gas systems business,” Steve Blanco, MSA Safety president and CEO, said. “Autronica enhances our ability to participate earlier in project design and to deliver more integrated safety solutions across critical infrastructure, energy, and marine applications. The acquisition marks another key pillar of our Accelerate strategy, reinforcing our focus on expanding our detection platform and advancing our portfolio through strategic acquisitions.”

The purchase also allows the company to expand into a growing market and further enhances its ability to meet customers’ safety requirements. A complementary geographic footprint allows both companies to leverage regional strengths and expand global reach.

The transaction is expected to close during the third quarter of 2026, subject to customary closing conditions and regulatory approvals.

MSA Safety employs approximately 5,300 people in more than 40 international locations.
