The Commonwealth Financing Authority recently awarded Leatherstocking Gas Co. a $877,918 grant through the Pipeline Investment Program (PIPE) for a natural gas expansion project in Bradford County. The company will use the funding for engineering and administration costs.
The $1.8 million project will install 10,920 feet of natural gas line in Wyalusing Borough along State Route 6 and several streets within the borough. The new line will supply natural gas to 60 commercial facilities and 110 residential households and will serve the entire Wyalusing community.
“Leatherstocking is excited and proud to be one of the recipients of a PIPE grant for our upcoming Wyalusing expansion project,” Tony Dorazio, Leatherstocking Gas Co. CEO, said. “This program was essential in helping make this project a reality, and we’re looking forward to delivering on our promise to deliver affordable, American natural gas to local people. Wyalusing is a growing community with a big vision, and we’re thrilled to be a part of it.”
The company also has received funding from the Corning Energy Corp.
The PIPE Program provides grants for the construction of the last few miles of natural gas distribution lines to business parks, existing manufacturing, and industrial enterprises that will result in the creation of jobs.
