Apozeal Pharmaceuticals plans to add production lines at its 70,000-square-foot, FDA-registered drug manufacturing facility in Levittown.
The $4.1 million expansion will allow the company to manufacture additional Abbreviated New Drug Application (ANDA) and over-the-counter products.
Currently, the company owns 11 FDA-approved ANDA products and several over-the-counter products for cough, cold, pain, and fever, but only produces four of the products. The company purchased the Levittown facility in 2023 with the intent to eventually manufacture all its FDA-approved products in the United States.
Expansion is expected to create at least 70 jobs over the next three years and retain 22 existing positions.
The Department of Community and Economic Development (DCED) submitted a funding proposal for a $925,000 Pennsylvania Industrial Development Authority (PIDA) loan, a $150,000 Pennsylvania First Grant, and a $100,000 WEDnet grant to train workers.
“Life sciences is one of the five key sectors outlined in our Economic Development Strategy, and we’re focused on ensuring this industry continues to thrive in Pennsylvania,” DCED Secretary Rick Siger said. “Apozeal’s investment is another great example of the growth we’re supporting across the Commonwealth.”
Pennsylvania’s life sciences sector employs more than 100,000 people at nearly 3,100 companies and research institutions. The majority of growth is concentrated in research and development.
