Pennsylvania semiconductor firm to launch silicon-based chips

Lehigh Valley-based iDeal Semiconductor announced it will partner with Richardson Electronics to expand the reach of the company’s SuperQ technology.

The agreement will allow iDeal to access Richardson Electronics design teams and sales specialists. The companies will work together to push iDeal’s MOSFETs, the company’s patented SuperQ silicon technology. The SuperQ-based chips deliver up to 5.7 times lower resistance and up to 2.1 times lower switching loss than leading competitors, the company said, which enables power engineers to meet the demands of modern power systems while maintaining cost-effectiveness and reliability.

iDeal’s initial devices target hard-switching, motor-control and synchronous-rectification applications including AI serves, USB power delivery, motor drives and AC/DC and DC/DC conversion.
