Pittsburgh-based PPG, a paints, coatings and specialty materials company, recently promoted two scientists to PPG associate fellow.

An associate fellow title recognizes science and technology employees who consistently deliver excellence in innovation and acknowledges the potential they can deliver.

David Fenn holds a Ph.D. in polymer chemistry. He has worked at PPG since 1999 when the company acquired the ICI refinish business. Fenn led the transfer of ICI’s intellectual property and patents to PPG. His contributions have exceeded $1 billion in sales.

Renhe Lin holds a Ph.D. in chemical engineering. He has worked at PPG since 2005 when he
joined PPG’s Aerospace business from Sierracin Corp. He has contributed more than $700 million in value to PPG through the development of proprietary raw material specifications.

“These promotions represent one of the most significant achievements within the PPG technical organization and serve as a testament to David and Renhe’s invaluable contributions to our growth,” David Bem, PPG chief technology officer and senior vice president of science and technology, said. “It reflects their unwavering focus on mutual value creation for our customers, development of intellectual properties and commitment to mentorship and leadership in the scientific community.”

PPG has four other associate fellows.
