Pittsburgh Regional Transit (PRT) will be hosting three public hearings to collect feedback on proposed service reductions and fare increases.
The hearings will be held from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. and again from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. on April 29, May 6, and June 12. The April 29 hearing will be held at the David L. Lawrence Convention Center, the May 6 hearing at Soldiers and Sailors Memorial Hall and Museum, and the June 12 hearing at the David L. Lawrence Convention Center. Registration not required but is encouraged.
“We urge riders, businesses, and community members to share their stories,” PRT CEO Katharine Kelleman said. “This is our chance to make it clear that we cannot afford to let transit fail.”
Feedback also can be provided online, in writing, by telephone and in person at PRT’s Downtown Service Center.
The agency proposes increasing fare by 25 cents and reducing service by 35 percent, effective February 2026. The changes are necessary because state funding can no longer keep pace with transit needs, and PRT faces a structural deficit that will grow annually without new funding. In addition, service cuts mean traffic congestion and demand for parking would increase.
The public comment period will run through June 18.
