The Pennsylvania Artificial Intelligence (AI) Opportunity Task Force recently named state Rep. Stephenie Scialabba (R-Butler) as chairwoman.

The task force identifies opportunities for AI across various industries and guides legislative policy.

“Rep. Scialabba has an extensive history in the practice of law concerning emerging cyber security and artificial intelligence issues and has shown a keen interest in these areas as a state representative,” House Republican Leader Jesse Topper (R-Bedford/Fulton), who appointed Scialabba to the position, said. “Her experience and interest make her an obvious choice to lead the Pennsylvania Artificial Intelligence Opportunity Task Force.”

Pennsylvania is equipped to lead the development and expansion of data centers, Scialabba said, because of its energy resources.

“This appointment is a great responsibility, and I am honored by the trust that has been placed in me,” Scialabba said. “The task force, like Pennsylvania, has limitless potential for meaningful impact in this space. My goal is to leverage Pennsylvania’s energy resources, existing infrastructure and innovative spirit to become a leader in the field – not just for the adoption of AI but for the power generation that AI so heavily requires.”

The task force is participating this week in a field hearing and tour of Allegheny and Butler counties.
