The state House Majority Policy Committee recently held a hearing in Philadelphia at IBEW Local 98’s Training Facility to discuss ways to keep Pennsylvania’s economy moving forward.

The Philadelphia House Delegation hosted the hearing with Philadelphia City Council joining state lawmakers.

Topics of discussion included securing statewide investments to ensure residents are connected to jobs, medical care and schools.

“With the continued uncertainty in Washington, it’s more important than ever for us to ensure our state’s economy is strong,” state Rep. Morgan Cephas (D-Philadelphia), Philadelphia House Delegation chairwoman, said. “Today’s hearing was a great opportunity to hear from the voices of our communities – to give them a seat at the table to discuss their needs for an economically strong Pennsylvania. We heard loud and clear that we must find ways to ensure economic protections and relief for hardworking Philadelphians, as well as our small businesses and the public services that keep our economy moving.”

Testifiers at the hearing included Greg Downing, South Central Transit Authority executive director; Erik Johanson, Southeastern Pennsylvania Transportation Authority senior director of budgets and transformation; Jennifer Nagle, Philadelphia Convention & Visitor’s Bureau vice president of special projects; and Shannon Williams, Chamber of Commerce for Greater Philadelphia senior vice president of advocacy.
