Pittsburgh-based Gecko Robotics, a company developing artificial intelligence (AI) driven platforms using robotics, and Washington-based NAES, a power generation company, recently signed a multi-year agreement valued at more than $100 million to support the reliability of the infrastructure NAES manages. An option could increase the deal to more than $250 million.
Under the term of the agreement, NAES’ power production facilities will use Gecko’s technology, including AI-driven platforms that collect data and take actions in the real world. The companies also will seek government support, investments and employees with the goal of transforming the energy sector and protecting it against any future crises.
“The White House has rightly acknowledged that we are in an energy crisis, and that continuing on our current path for production and supply puts our country at risk,” Jake Loosararian, Gecko co-founder and CEO, said. “We’re proud to partner with NAES and, together, bolster the U.S.’ energy security at some of our most critical power facilities using what America does better than anyone – innovation!”
Over the next four years, it is forecasted that the demand on the national power grid will grow by approximately 16 percent. By 2030, data center power demand is projected to grow 160 percent.
