PPG Foundation invests $18.4M in 2024

Pittsburgh-based PPG, a paint, coatings and specialty materials company, recently announced its PPG Foundation invested $18.4 million worldwide in 2024, a $900,000 increase from 2023.

The foundation supported more than 400 community programs partners that advance education and promote community sustainability. The company hopes its educational efforts create a skilled work force in fields related to coatings and manufacturing and help inspire the next generation of STEM innovators.

“Around the world, PPG’s 2024 community engagement investments aimed to inspire students and aspiring STEM leaders, beautify neighborhoods and give our employees meaningful ways to give back,” Malesia Dunn, PPG Foundation and corporate global social responsibility executive director, said. “We’re focused on creating brighter communities, inspiring the future workforce and applying our employees’ talents in ways that create tangible impacts.”

Investments include:

A total of $11.5 million for building science, technology, engineering, and mathematics leaders.

The company completed a $2 million commitment to future skilled worker training. Organizations receiving funding included WorldSkills Lyon 2024, the world’s largest vocational skills competition; 42KL, Malaysia’s technical education program; and the Bidwell Training Center’s Chemical Laboratory Technician program.

The company invested $1.2 million toward the $5 million commitment to environmental sustainability education by 2030.
