The Robert H. Spitz Foundation recently awarded Skills in Scranton Business Education Partnership, the Greater Scranton Chamber of Commerce work force development affiliate, a $15,000 grant to support career awareness programs and strengthen collaboration between educational institutions and the business community.
Skills in Scranton’s initiatives provide job seekers and students with an understanding of diverse career paths and provides tools to navigate the evolving work force. It developed a sector-based, industry-driven approach to address skills shortages, cultivate talent pipelines, and create career paths.
“Business leaders across Northeastern Pennsylvania recognize that work force development is critical to the economic future of our region and the long-term success of our youth,” Emily Pettinato, Greater Scranton Chamber of Commerce work force development specialist, said. “This funding is instrumental in advancing our mission to foster career awareness and build a robust talent pipeline. It allows us to connect with students and job seekers, providing them with the tools and knowledge needed to make informed career decisions.”
The Robert H. Spitz Foundation is a private foundation administered by the Scranton Area Community Foundation that supports initiatives and programs serving Lackawanna County and Northeastern Pennsylvania. It awards nonprofit organizations grants to support programs that remove economic barriers, break the cycle of poverty, and encourage independence.
