Canonsburg, Pa.-based Vision RNG in collaboration with Laurel Ridge Landfill and Kentucky-based Delta Gas Co. recently began commercial operations at a renewable natural gas (RNG) facility located at the Laurel Ridge Landfill in Lily, Ky.

The new plant will convert landfill gas into RNG. It will have the capacity to process approximately 2,250 standard cubic feet per minute of landfill gas and produce an estimated 450,000 million metric British thermal units of RNG annually. The gas will be injected into Delta Gas’s pipeline network.

“This is an exciting milestone for Vision RNG and our partners,” Bill Johnson, Vision RNG CEO, said. “Bringing our first project with Waste Connections online ahead of schedule is a significant achievement, especially given the industry-wide challenges and delays affecting many projects.”

RNG can be utilized in several ways including as a substitute for traditional natural gas in industrial and commercial settings; fuel for compressed natural gas-powered vehicles and other sustainable fuel applications; and as a method to generate electricity from a sustainable source.

Vision RNG is a leading developer, owner, and operator of landfill gas to RNG facilities.

Laurel Ridge Landfill is a subsidiary of Waste Connections, a Texas-based solid waste services company.

Delta Natural Gas and Peoples Natural Gas, its parent company, are subsidiaries of Essential Utilities.
