Texas-based Heidelberg Materials North America recently announced it has entered into an agreement to purchase Philadelphia-based Highway Materials, an aggregates and asphalt producer.

“The addition of the Highway Materials business, with its broad range of products and more than 80 years of history in Pennsylvania, is a great opportunity to strengthen the company’s aggregate reserves in this core market while also growing our recycling operations,” Matteo Rozzanigo, Heidelberg Materials North America president of the Northeast Region, said.

The purchase includes a concrete recycling facility, a construction services business, two clean fill operations, four crushed stone quarries, nine hot-mix asphalt plants, and more than 350 employees.

This is Heidelberg Materials North America’s third recent purchase. It previously announced the acquisition of Texas-based Aaron Materials and earlier this month it completed its purchase of Victory Rock. The three purchases prices totaled approximately $380 million.

Victory Rock is a producer of high-quality aggregates for concrete and asphalt and related products. It has two quarries in the greater Texas Triangle.

The three purchases allow Heidelberg Materials North America to further strengthens its materials and recycling businesses.
