Cranberry Township-based MSA Safety, an advanced safety products, technologies and solutions company, will debut its latest flame detector at the National Fire Protection Association Conference & Expo in Orlando this week.
It also will showcase its gas and flame detection solutions portfolio.
The event will be attended by fire protection engineers, firefighters, building and facility managers, and safety professionals.
The MSA General Monitors FL5000 Multi-Spectrum Flame Detector features Bluetooth connectivity, the ability to detect fires up to 310 feet away; the ability to distinguish between dangerous real flames and common false alarm sources; a built-in self-check system; performance verification for 22 of the most common fuel types used in the petrochemical and other process industries; and multiple infrared detectors and an advanced flame detection algorithm that leverages the intelligence of three artificial neural networks that process signals to determine potential hazards.
MSA Safety employees also spoke on Monday and Tuesday on hydrogen hazard detection and flame detection technology. Dave Opheim, MSA Safety new business development manager, spoke about the potential hazards associated with hydrogen and provide best practices for detecting hydrogen gas leaks and fires. Kevin Killeen, MSA Safety fixed gas and flame detection product line manager, spoke about the recent advancements in flame detection design.
