The Chamber of Commerce for Greater Philadelphia recently named Gregory E. Deavens as the next Chair of the Board of Directors, effective in October.
Deavens, president and CEO of Independence Health Group, will replace Mike Innocenzo when his term ends. Chairmen serve two-year terms.
“Since Greg joined Independence, he has been a strong and unifying voice in our business and civic community,” Chellie Cameron, Chamber president and CEO, said. “I look forward to working with him to continue to drive impact for our Chamber members and community at-large as we work to position the Greater Philadelphia region as a top global destination for business and a leader in inclusive growth.”
Deavens began working at Independence in 2017. Prior to that, he held roles at MassMutual, NY Life, Cigna, GE Capital, and Price Waterhouse.
A certified public accountant, Deavens was appointed to the chamber’s Board and Executive Committee in 2021 and currently serves as Policy, Legislative and Research Committee chairman.
In addition, Deavens serves on the boards of directors or the advisory boards of multiple companies. He is trustee of the Barnes Foundation, an honorary trustee of the Amistad Center for Art & Culture, and served on the transition leadership board for Gov. Josh Shapiro.
