Malvern-based CertainTeed Siding, a building products provider, recently achieved a 96 percent reduction in Scopes 1 and 2 emissions from the manufacturing of polymer shakes, vinyl trim, millwork, and vinyl siding at three of its manufacturing facilities.

The facilities are located in McPherson, Kan., Social Circle, Ga., and Williamsport, Md.

“As a leader in light and sustainable construction, we must focus on ensuring our manufacturing practices are as sustainable as possible, and our efforts toward achieving a near net-zero production process for Scopes 1 and 2 emissions in McPherson, Social Circle and Williamsport are a giant step forward as we continue this work,” Joe Bondi, CertainTeed Siding vice president and general manager, said. “These achievements are a shining example of how we can continue to provide quality products to our customers while committing to sustainable business practices.”

CertainTeed is a subsidiary of Saint-Gobain, one of the world’s largest building products companies. It employs more than 6,900 employees at more than 60 manufacturing facilities in the United States and Canada, and had total sales totaling approximately $5.6 billion in 2021.

Saint-Gobain has reduced its environmental footprint in the U.S. market through a fully electrified process and using electricity backed by renewable energy credits.
