Pittsburgh-based Wabtec Corp., a provider of equipment, systems, digital solutions and value-added services for the freight and transit rail industries, recently received an order from Norway-based Norske Tog to supply the company’s regional trains with Green Air heating, ventilation, and air-conditioning (HVAC) units and efficient door systems.
“This order builds on the momentum in the transit market for our technology solutions,” Pascal Schweitzer, president of Wabtec’s Transit business, said. “It also continues our strong partnership with Alstom to help Norske Tog realize its goals. These solutions will deliver the industry-leading performance in terms of comfort, cost effectiveness, environmental stewardship, operability, and safety.”
Wabtec will supply 180 saloon and 60 cab HVAC units and 720 door systems and gap fillers during the first delivery, which is expected this year.
Wabtec will supply the components to Alstom, the company building up to 200 Coradia Stream regional trains for Norske Tog, and Alstom will begin delivering the trains in 2025.
Wabtec’s Green Air solution using natural R290 refrigerant, a clean and environmentally friendly option when compared to traditional HVAC systems.
Wabtec’s double-sliding door features include touchless passenger detection.
Norske Tog’s trains will connect Ski and Stabekk in the greater Oslo region with rail service.
