Lancaster-based GenHydro, a waste-to-energy technology company specializing in green hydrogen and clean energy production, recently held a groundbreaking ceremony for its pilot project in Lancaster.
The pilot project will demonstrate the company’s waste-to-energy technology on a commercial scale. A GenHydro reactor will use waste metal to create renewable electricity and green hydrogen. The reactor will provide energy to Lancaster’s BURLE Business Park, a 1 million-square-foot multipurpose business and industrial facility.
“GenHydro is incredibly fortunate to have Burle as a partner,” Eric Schraud, GenHydro founder and CEO, said. “Their support has been instrumental in our growth and deployment of this technology.”
The groundbreaking ceremony also was attended by representatives from BURLE Business Park and McClure Co., customers, strategic partners, local government officials, and several stakeholders.
GenHydro also announced that it has entered into a partnership with Evergreen Alumina, a company dedicated to keeping recyclables from ending up in landfills. Under the partnership Evergreen Alumina will supply GenHydro with recycled aluminum to power GenHydro’s reactors. GenHydro will provide Evergreen Alumina with alumina to be further upcycled and sold to clients.
In addition, GenHydro is a new project partner of Green Fig Power Solutions, a business leader in real estate. GenHydro’s technology will provide green power from Berks and Lancaster counties to construction sites.
