Burnside America, a manufacturer of hydraulic cylinders, is nearing the completion of a $4.8 million, 30,000-square-foot expansion of its Franklin County facility.
The expansion doubles the size of the facility and will create 15 positions over the next three years. A second facility also will receive two new production lines.
“The support that Burnside America has received from the commonwealth shows Pennsylvania’s continuing dedication to manufacturing and growth,” Tony Morrisey, Burnside America plant manager, said. “Our expansion project is the direct result of continuously delivering a quality product made by quality people and we look forward to continuing to invest in our employees and the community.”
The Department of Community and Economic Development submitted a funding proposal for a $20,000 workforce development grant to train workers and a $3.3 million Pennsylvania Industrial Development Authority loan.
The agency’s Office of International Business Development provided technical assistance and coordination.
The Governor’s Action Team, a group of economic development professionals who report to the governor and work with businesses considering locating or expanding in Pennsylvania, coordinated the project.
The project is expected to retain at least 32 jobs.
Ireland-based Burnside Autocyl Ltd. owns Burnside America.
Burnside America produces cylinders for Pennsylvania-based JLG Industries and other domestic, material handling manufacturers.
