Iowa-based Iowa Spring, a manufacturer of springs used in the overhead door, construction, agriculture, and recreational equipment industries, recently purchased Reading-based Northeast Spring, a custom springs manufacturer.

The purchase allows Iowa Spring to expand its presence worldwide as a premier supplier of precision-made springs.

Iowa Spring President and CEO Tim Bianco will oversee operations. Northeast Spring will maintain its name and management team. Founder John O’Leary will work over the next three years to ensure a smooth transition.

“As a group of like-minded companies, this acquisition represents the opportunity to offer our customers additional capacity and locations to better serve their needs,” Bianco said. “With an ethos of family, high quality, and customer satisfaction, we look forward to leveraging our newly expanded group’s capabilities to best serve the overhead door and other target markets.”

Headquartered in Reading, Northeast Spring also operates a manufacturing facility in Georgia. The company was family-owned and operated for more than 25 years.

Iowa Spring operates two locations in Adel, Iowa, its original facility and a recent 55,000-square-foot expansion facility. It also owns Southern Atlantic Spring in North Carolina.

The Iowa Spring group of companies now includes five North American production locations totaling 375,000 square feet of manufacturing space.
