The Pennsylvania Department of Labor & Industry (L&I) recently announced it has made improvements to the Unemployment Compensation (UC) customer-service experience.

UC Live Chat, available to claimants and employers at www.uc.pa.gov/Chat, is available with little to no wait for service. Through the service, claimants can receive real-time status updates on claims, help navigating their dashboards, or ask general questions. Employers can receive information on UC taxes and other employer services such as individual claims, logging in or navigating the system.

The service uses end-to-end encryption to ensure messages are kept private and secure.

In July, the service helped 9,117 people.

In addition L&I, doubled the trained staff who can assist claimants

“At L&I, we are driven by our commitment to delivering services to Pennsylvanians that meet their expectations – especially when those services are critical benefits that help workers and their families stay financially afloat after the loss of a job,” L&I Secretary Nancy A. Walker said. “With the additional staff trained to help claimants through UC Live Chat, we are making the UC system as navigable as possible for people in tough situations to get the help they need – and without long wait times.”

In July, the UC helpline assisted 66,435 people.
