Reading-based Penske Transportation Solutions recently signed a commitment with the U.S. Army Partnership for Your Success (PaYS) program to increase veteran hiring across its truck rental, truck leasing and logistics businesses.

The PaYS Program is a partnership between the Army and a section of private industry, academia and state and local public institutes. The goal is to guarantee soldiers after their service in the Army with five job interviews and possible employment.

The program helps soldiers prepare for post-military careers by connecting them with employers who understand the skills, discipline, and work ethic military service members can bring to a business.

“We’re honored to begin this important, new relationship with the U.S. Army’s PaYS program,” Ron Schwartz, Penske Transportation Solutions vice president of staffing, said. “We truly value the service of our armed forces and the incredible diversity, work ethic and contributions they bring to our workforce.”

Annually, approximately 9 percent of Penske’s new hires are veterans. In addition, the company has been recognized as a top military friendly employer.

Penske offers career opportunities as truck drivers, fleet supervisors, and truck fleet maintenance technicians, and in leadership positions, logistics and supply chain operations, and operations management.

Since launching in 2000, more than 1,000 employers have partnered with PaYS.
