The GIANT Company and MARTIN’S, one of GIANT’s brands, will partner with 36 local organizations over the next two weeks to pack and distribute 10,000 bags containing food and school-related supplies.

The donation is part of the company’s 100th anniversary celebration.

Each bag will include a notebook, pencils, crayons, glue sticks, and other school supplies, personal hygiene items such as deodorant, laundry detergent, mouthwash, a toothbrush, and toothpaste; and non-perishable food items such as applesauce, cereal, granola bars, mac and cheese, and trail mix.

“The GIANT Company believes everyone – especially our youngest minds – deserve access to food to reach their fullest potential, which is why we continue to take actionable steps to help eliminate hunger in our local communities,” Jessica Groves, GIANT community impact manager, said. “Research shows children have a hard time focusing on academics when they are hungry, so we are doing our part to help kids go back to school with the food and supplies they need to begin the school year with a fresh start.”

The GIANT Company operates 193 stores, 132 pharmacies, 107 fuel stations, and more than 180 online pickup hubs and grocery delivery service in Pennsylvania, Maryland, Virginia, West Virginia, and New Jersey. Its brands includes GIANT, MARTIN’S, GIANT Heirloom Market, GIANT Direct and MARTIN’S Direct.
