PPG and the PPG Foundation recently announced they will invest $5 million by 2030 in environmental sustainability education worldwide.
PPG and the PPG Foundation will support educational programming and educational and volunteer efforts focused on clean energy, climate change, energy efficiency, litter reduction, recycling, reuse and reforestation.
“Sustainability is an integral part of delivering on our promise to protect and beautify the world,” Malesia Dunn, PPG Foundation and corporate social responsibility executive director, said. “Through this investment, we aim to educate young people around the world about climate issues, environmental stewardship, and prepare them for future STEM (science, technology, engineering and mathematics) careers.”
The commitment, which aligns with PPG’s 2030 sustainability targets and priorities, will support programs that meet the specific environmental needs in markets where the company operates.
Investment commitments include:
The PPG Foundation and the National Environmental Education Foundation are developing two STEM programs for middle school students.
PPG and the National Energy Education Development will host two teacher workshops for 6-8 educators.
PPG and the STEM Learning organization will support a program that provides professional development for educators in the United Kingdom.
PPG and Junior Achievement will support a program for PPG volunteers and educators in Brazil to teach environmental sustainability to high school students.
