Brookville-based Miller Fabrication Solutions recently marked 60 years in operation.
Founded in 1963 by David R. Miller, Miller Fabrication Solutions is a strategic fabrication partner for original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) in heavy industries such as construction and forestry, engine and turbine equipment, material handling, and transportation.
The company started with three people performing welding and machining. By 1980, the company was serving OEMs and had added industrial fabrication capabilities. It expanded into assembly and finishing in the 2000s.
The company today provides metal manufacturing and value-added solutions. It employs 400 people working in four western Pennsylvania plant locations.
“We’ve been fortunate to have the help of so many people along the way,” Eric Miller, grandson of the company’s founder and the company’s third-generation president, said. “Suppliers like the good folks at Global Shop Solutions, customer partners such as the Nassif family owners of Hanco Ltd. – with whom we’ve worked for more than 59 years of our 60-year history – the Brookville community and, of course, our employees. I can’t overstate the quality of our people over the years or the impact they have had on the company’s success.”
Only 13 percent of family-owned businesses remain in the family for more than 60 years, according to the Small Business Administration’s nonprofit resource partner SCORE.
