Lehigh Valley-based Air Products, an industrial gas company, recently announced it is building two nitrogen plants in Malaysia.

The facilities will serve the electrical, electronics and other manufacturing industries and will help the company strengthen its position in Northern Malaysia. Air Products will convert hauled-in liquified nitrogen to gaseous nitrogen supply via pipelines to help customers reduce carbon emissions and improve sustainability.

In addition, the company also will further extend its pipeline network in areas surrounding the facilities.

“Air Products has a long-standing presence in Malaysia with a leading position in the Northern Region,” Ramani Velu, Air Products’ Southeast Asia president, said. “Our latest investment in this fast-growing industrial district demonstrates our ongoing commitment to the country’s sustainable growth. We are dedicated to growing with our customers along their growth and sustainability journey with our safety, reliability, efficiency and excellent service.”

Air Products has had a presence in Malaysia since 1974 and has nine production facilities and depots in the country. It supplies industrial gases to several markets including chemicals processing, electronics, food, glass, metals processing, and steel.

The company’s first nitrogen plant in the region came onstream in 2021.

Air Products operates in more than 50 countries and had $12.7 billion in sales during fiscal year 2022.
