Empire Access, a fiber internet service provider, announced Monday it would be building out its fiber optic services to Carbondale, Pa., this fall.
The news follows Empire’s announcement that it would be expanding its fiber optic services to Williamsport and Scranton. The company said the expansion will provide those areas with internet access, TV, phone, and security solutions.
“We’re really excited to be covering more ground in Pennsylvania,” said Empire Access CEO Jim Baase. “Having a resource for communication services is crucial, and we recognize the need for a reliable internet connection in Carbondale. Unlike our competitors, our local team members and facilities provide us a unique opportunity to become active members in the community. Carbondale is a landmark in history, and we look forward to being a part of that story.”.
The build-out will provide residents and businesses with internet speeds of up to 1 Gigabit, the company said. Part of a two-phase expansion in Pennsylvania, the expansion will pair Empire Access’s high-speed fiber optic internet with an array of telecommunication and security services, including streaming TV, home and business phone plans, IoT security and home automation, and advanced business services like enterprise Wi-Fi, high-security firewalls, business emails, audio and video conferencing, dark fiber and metro-Ethernet.
Founded in Prattsburgh, N.Y., Empire Access provides communications services to large areas of Upstate New York and Northern Pennsylvania. The company has been named the fastest Internet Service Provider in the Northeastern United States for two consecutive years by PC Magazine and was named Best Internet Service Provider in the Southern Tier region of New York in 2017, 2018, and 2021.
