Olympus Energy receives certification from Project Canary

Olympus Energy, based in Canonsburg, Pa., announced Thursday that it and its subsidiary Hyperion Midstream have become the first integrated natural gas producer in the country to have its upstream and midstream gathering assets certified by Project Canary.

Olympus Energy said the third-part environmental performance certification confirms the company’s commitment to excellence. Project Canary analyzed more than 600 data points per well to assess Olympus’ producing well pads and midstream gathering assets, as well as the company’s deployment of on-the-ground emissions monitors. The independent analysis then rated the company’s environmental and operational performance.

“Olympus and Hyperion are committed to driving best practices at all stages of the energy value chain, and this certification validates our strong environmental integrity,” said Tim Dugan, president and CEO of Olympus Energy. “We’re using continuous emissions monitoring to catch leaks faster and cross reference operations with the environmental data. We’re putting data to work to reduce emissions, both at our upstream Olympus well pads and our Hyperion midstream assets.”

The company said Olympus and Hyperion are committed to environmental excellence through emissions reduction technology, reusing and recycling of produced water, investing in freshwater pipeline systems, and driving to eliminate reportable spills.

“Olympus Energy is an early mover in seeking certification across its entire operations, a testament to its commitment to verifiably low-methane natural gas above and beyond existing regulations,” Chris Romer, co-founder and CEO of Project Canary, said. “As the gas market continues to evolve and buyers seek Responsibly Sourced natural gas with measured climate attributes, Olympus and Hyperion are industry leaders. Proof of performance is what our climate deserves.”
